"My Romantic Date" and "Preview to a Whirlwind Week"
Hi everyone!
I was just sitting down to return an email to my mom and then decided I'd just put my news on here since I may not be posting this week.
My room looks like a tornado went through it, my research paper is still looming over me along with 1 large project and 1 smaller assignment, I have no clean clothes, and I desperately need to shower. But, I am exceedingly happy.
Friday, a writing spurt hit me and I sat on my floor with hundreds of papers and library books surrounding me and got the bulk of my research paper done.
Friday night, I had a very romantic date. I got all dressed up, took the train into the city (which is just so fun and breathtaking at night), and walked to the Opera House. There, my date and I had salmon bagel sandwiches at a small cafe on the harbour, and then went to see "The Importance of Being Ernest" at the Playhouse. It was one of the most hilarious stage productions I have ever seen. Basically, 2 crazy English guys did the entire show by themselves. There were, I believe, 7 characters total including 4 women characters. (This was kind of like Extreme and Refined Radio Music Theater.) In the closing scene, all 7 characters were "on stage" at once. Absolutely hilarious. If anyone ever gets the chance to see these guys (they're called Ridiculousmus), GO!
Unfortunantly, I enjoyed the theater so much that now I will want to go back every weekend. On the way home I marked all of the concerts (Playhouse, Studio, Concert hall, and opera house) that I would be interested in attending. I believe there were about 25 in all.
We had coffee at the Playhouse after the show (which is fun, because most places in Sydney include a chocolate to put into your coffee) and then took the train home where we put on our pajamas and made midnight snacks. Here is me and my date... =)

Kinda an awkward picture of both of us. We're quite silly and very talkative when we're together, so we had a wonderful time.
Since Friday was such a late night, hiking Saturday just didn't work out; Trisha was sick, I couldn't reach Erika, Teya had homework to do, and Amy backed out. So, even though I'm kinda sick of Manly, Catie talked me into going with her. It was a beautiful day and it was certainly fun to ride around in Andrew's Voltswagon convertible bug.
Sunday, we went to my first mexican food restaurant here. Certainly not Lupe's or Chilpultlepec, but I think that enough cheese and grease on anything makes it pretty good, and it's been almost 2 months (!!!) since I've had Mexican food, so it tasted ok to me. At the same time, I think it's a mental thing with me. Just like I won't eat seafood unless I'm right on the ocean, I really don't like eating Mexican food outside of Texas (or mexico).
This evening Karyn (Aussie friend) picked me up for church. I went with her last week and decided I should just stick to it. It's really more of a Bible Study than a church- very informal, laidback, tiny, young. Honestly, the teaching and worship are not great, but it's just so nice to be around really awesome and fun (Aussie) Christians my age. I think I will try and find a more liturgical morning service to go to at another church.
Even though I do not really know anyone there yet, they managed to talk me into going to Easter camp. Apparently it's something everyone looks forward to all year and I was an easy sell. I still get nervous about being the new girl and not knowing anyone, but I'm that's part of this whole experience and I've learned to embrace it (and I've learned that I'm getting better about it all). It's just a weekend of Bible study, worship and hang out time at a Christian campground in the Blue Mountains, so I am very excited. I may try and see if the Hannas will let me take their spare violin up. I miss it more than I thought I would.
Tonight my mind is just in a whirlwind as I think about this coming week.
Monday: full day work, pilates in evening
Tuesday: full day class, research paper, assignment, project due
Wednesday: full day work, salsa in evening
Thursday: work half day, leave for Easter camp!
Monday: return home in evening, laundry, pack
Tuesday: leave for New Zealand!
This means that any urgent New Zealand shopping/planning needs to be done before I leave on Thursday. This is difficult since shops here close at 5:00 (!!!) and I get off work at 5. But I'm so happy and excited about it all, that I'm not worrying about it.
Tonight I will tackle the messy room, shower, and research paper situation, and try to find something somewhat clean and professional for work in the morning. Tomorrow I will work on laundry, assignment, and project. Perhaps Wednesday I will ask to leave work a little early and get some shopping done.
So, here I sit on my fleece blanket with my French-pressed coffee and chai chocolate, writing to all of you lovely people when really, my daily schedule is of little or no interest to any of you (besides, perhaps, mom and daddy). =)
I do want to write a post about a beautiful (ok, maybe it's more cruel and hilarious than beautiful) story about my big brother. I received permission to do this only yesterday. Perhaps I will write it on the bus in the morning and share it with all of you soon. It really is something to look forward to. (How's that for a lead-up, Walt and Ames?)
Thursday night group: Please make note of all the mentions of study/schoolwork in this post!
Mr. Stubbs: Thanks for the surprise CD! I printed out over $40 worth of material in the library this week, but it was one of the happiest 40$ I have spent here.
Happy Birthday to Granddaddy!!! (Everyone leave a birthday message for him when he reads the comments.)
It has been called to my attention that although I announced new photos online last week, I forgot to post the address of my online photo album. It is http://community.webshots.com/user/lisamichelle2006. (Amy, did I tell you that you can see a glimpse of your coffee shop in the "Photographs" album?)
Sorry this post is so hastily written. It really is strange to me sometimes that people take the time to read about my life. I feel like there are so many more worthy things y'all could be doing and that I could be writing about (maybe one day I will), but thanks for keeping up with me.
Have a wonderful Easter everyone!
Cheers!!

"Let me sing for the love, let me love for the lost; let me lose all I have for what I found on the cross; let me trust you with my life; let me live to give you praise, let me praise you for the grace by which I'm saved. Lord, let me sing. ..and let my song rise from a whisper to a scream. " -A Peterson
