The beginning of the end
Hi, everyone.
Adelaide, the Indian Pacific Railroad, Hervey Bay, and Fraser Island were all fantastic. It felt great to be traveling again and I can't wait to upload some of my pictures. This weekend I'm studying for a huge final exam on Tuesday, so pictures and updates will have to wait.
It felt strange to come home because everyone is getting ready to leave. Tomorrow is our official "clean the house" day and then we're going out for a flatemates' final dinner fling because Catie leaves on Tuesday. It's crazy to think that in 2 weeks our house will be empty, because it feels so lived in right now. (My room is covered in papers for my final exam, there's stuff strewn around Teya's room because she's still unpacking from Fraser, Catie has piles of things in her room that she's starting to pack, Kristen's room is cluttered because that's how she lives, the kitchen is a little gross because Teya and I have been gone, and the living room always has books, coffee mugs and the telly remote laying around.) But in 2 weeks, Unit 20 will have no character, no trace of the past 5 months. That's a crazy feeling.
We've only been here a short time and it's gone by so fast. It's surprising how uprooted we feel to leave.
Mrs. Stubbs: Grades come out 12 July. I'll be sure to let you know how I do. ;)
The rest of you Thursday night people: Woolies was running a sale on TimTams the other day and I thought about buying heaps to bring home, but decided that was dangerous as I might just end up eating them all. I think my first Thursday night back should be an official TimTam/coffee night.
Walt: You should see the news here in the evenings- it's so hilarious the way the Aussies cover the World Cup. This game against Italy is going to be crucial. I have a feeling that everyone in my final on Tuesday is going to be very underprepared because of it...
Amy: It feels wonderful not to be working at Starlight, simply because I can sleep in past 6am. And I feel rather free with my schedule. But, I didn't really mind the work and I'll be going back in a week or so. But since I'm going back more as a volunteer than an intern, I may be doing other sorts of things. (Amanda said something about updating the pictures in the reception area??? not so thrilling....) Oh, and I wore my new shorts to the gym yesterday. I felt so patriotic.
I'm off to study.
